RUNWAY EXIT 10 - #454-869 CARDIGAN $1,490.00OFF THE SHELVES
The weather is getting warmer and the sun is shining on Ferragamo and the Fall 2010 Runway collection! The first Women's runway collection by Massimiliano Giornetti has caught the attention of every major fashion editor. With luxury knitwear, heritage leathers, and fine tailoring, Ferragamo has regained the title as the go-to collection for the sophisticated shopper looking to layer in pieces, to her already chic wardrobe.
KNITWEAR is not only a staple in Fall RTW collections - it is also right on trend for Fall 2010. Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, & Prada all join Ferragamo in the endless weave of luxe novelty knitwear for fall! As with everything designer - it's all about the details.
On the Ferragamo runway, Exit 10 features a classic style that is timeless and cool for girls in their 20's or Women in their 50's. A long cardigan is one of those pieces that is an essential to a weekday, weekend, or vacation wardrobe. Styled as a dress, the look ties in all the trends - cinched waist with a belt, leather patched pockets, & little ankle socks with suede booties.
W Magazine features this runway look beautifully in the June issue. This look jumps off page 59 in the magazine's "Best In Show" story highlighting the strongest looks from Paris, Milan, & New York. Mr. Giornetti joins the most accomplished designers in the industry as he is quoted describing his feeling about his inspiration for Fall. Get your Copy today - and talk about it witih your clients tomorrow!
In addition to the cardigan - don't let your favorite client miss the chunky cable knit of runway exit 12. The oversized cable knits are one of the biggest trends coming for Fall 2010.
WOOL CABLE KNIT - #454-911 $1,290.00 Purchased for the boutiques in a luxurious and neutral Olive Green, it is a great alternative to black for spicing up a Fall wardrobe. Your client probably has a closet full of black knits - but what about Olive green? Worked back to charcoal, rust, or her favorite jeans - this knit is a great item to buy for fall. (Don't be shy to suggest an outrageous pair of heels in color to pop the whole look. Classic with a twist is the easiest way for a woman to look stylish).
LEGACY OF LUXURY -LUREX
SILK LUREX HALTER GOWN -#454-763 - $4,890.00That's right.. Lame' and Lurex are back! These sparkly fabrics made appearances on the hottest runways for Fall as the fashion world pays homage to the glam and glitz of the 70's. Designers seem to reference these sparklers on the runway every few years as the fabrics love the red carpet. In the world of retail, the items can be tricky as some customers think twice about so much sparkle. The Lame' gown on the Ferragamo runway is an editorial dream and just the perfect way to promote the collection! Your buyers were smart to touch lightly on this category. With Lurex & Lame' - a little goes a long way! As a runway trend it is touch and go with editors- so bravo to Mr. Giornetti for getting it so right for Fall 2010!

EXIT 33 - LUREX KNIT DRESS #454-863 - $870.00 It is the perfect dress to showcase new accessories, as the sparkle of the Lurex makes an excellent backdrop to a sensational belt, bag, & several bangles! Also, priced at $870, it is a great price point for a seasonal trend.
Two of the hottest shoes on the runway are headed to your boutique for Fall! The square heel styling gives both of these styles a 70's feel with Menswear detailing mixed with the retro nerdy feel that is oh so cool.
(Marc Jacobs has made his entire career on the retro-nerdy girl). Be sure to suggest of these darlings to your coolest customers - she will have a million things to wear them with.
From trousers to tailored shorts and every length in between, these heels are the perfect fall shoe. Priced at $680 and $690, they are also one of the best priced runway shoes to come out of Paris, Milan, or New York this year!
FERRAGAMO TIME
With all the attention the runways are giving to the 1970's - I thought we would highlight what was happening at the house of Ferragamo during that decade. While Ferragamo Fan & king of the downtown nightlife - Andy Warhol was dancing the night away at Studio 54, the house that Salvatore built was making some major additions to the collection!
1971 -Silk Scarf & Tie collection begins, adding another layer of sophistication to the house of fashion. Today, Ferragamo ties are a favorite for millions of men around the world.
1975 - The NY boutique moves to 5th Avenue. Amazingly, the Ferragamo boutique had been on Park Avenue since 1948! At that time, Park avenue was a destination for boutique shopping.
1978 - The Vara Bows it's Bow for the world to adore. The shoe makes history and becomes known the world over. ** Be sure to see the updated evening version for Fall 2010 - featuring a large Mercurio Rosette - under the name FADALIN and priced at $470.
RUNWAY WORDS
LUREX- The term refers to the sparkly fabric made with metallic yarn. Lurex is actually a brand of yarn ( think of how we say Scotch tape to mean any clear tape) - but has become known as the fabric produced from the Lurex yarn.
The yarn is made with aluminum that is inserted between two pieces of color resin film. The fiber is then woven or knitted into wool, silk, cotton, nylon, or rayon fabrics. A very complicated procedure to produce this unique effect. (See runway exit 33).
