KRIGLER LAUNCHES SKIN & BODY CARE

French Perfume house KRIGLER has an exciting new addition to the collection - just in time for Summer.

As New York finally feels some warm weather in late April - the Krigler boutique at the Plaza Retail Collection unveils skin and body care.   The collection is unique in formulation and design.  One of the most intriguing products is a body lotion called Madison Secret.    The creamy lotion is non-greasy but very effective in moisturizing dry skin.   Madison Secret - along with all of the skin care lotions from Krigler are scented of cotton - a light and fresh smell that will not compete with your favorite fragrance.

Madison Secret - an original formula from the company archives was created by the great great grandmother of 5th generation Perfumer - Ben Krigler.   Mr. Krigler tells the charming story of his great great grandmother's discovery of this alluring skin lotion.   Mademoiselle Krigler as it turns out was no shrinking violet in her own right.   She was in Paris during the 1920's and was the friend of many artists and singers and most of the avant-garde social set.   One friend was a femme fatale who never sat home on a Saturday night.   When Mademoiselle  Krigler asked her friend what her beauty secret was - her friend described a painstaking combination of essential oils, creams, and lotions she combined to leave just the right impression with her gentlemen friends.    Mme Krigler was instantly inspired.   She created the lotion and named it for her friend!

There are many options in the skin/body care line:

True Paradise - a shower gel to cleanse and also moisturize the skin!

Dazzling Oil - a calming oil that relieves tension and stress

Aloa Divine - a sweet cleansing milk

Sublime Star - a light and effective facial moisturizer

My personal favorite is Rich Micro Scrub.  a smoothing body scrub that utilizes ground olive pits as an exfoliating agent - brilliant!

The body and skin care items are perfect gifts for just about anyone you are shopping for.   What a treat to be able to introduce a friend to a collection they have never owned!   That is so rare - as most brands are so over-exposed and over distributed - they don't feel exclusive.  Krigler however has a steadfast belief in keeping strict control over the distribution of this family owned collection.

Krigler has just launched their on-line boutique on the newly revamped website.    The site will walk you through all products available and also explain the wonderful history of this gem of a company!

Stop by the Plaza Retail Collection today to see the Krigler Boutique - or shop at KRIGLER.COM now.  Don't forget the wonderful candles!

Barbie at Bloomingdale's

It turns out that Madonna isn't the only blond icon  that turned 50 this year.   Barbie - the original party girl celebrated half a century with massive fanfare from coast to coast!  First stop was during fashion week in New York.    The legend was honored with a full scale fashion show with creations from major New York designers.   The fashions are on display in New York at Bloomingdale's at the flagship on 59th street and in the Soho store.  DVF, Tracey Reese, and Betsy Johnson for Barbie

Designer Betsey Johnson - a woman known for her runway cartwheels and party dresses whipped up a little green number for Barbie with sparkles and flare.

Kenneth Cole - never one to miss an opportunity to get his name on a shirt - actually found a relevant pun for Barbie!

There are vintage Barbie's and looks based on designs from the 1950, 60's and today.   Kimora Lee Simons  was chosen to design Barbie's bags for Baby Phat.

As every little girl dreamed of Barbie's playhouse being full size.   Mattel actually commissioned a full scale dream house in Malibu!   The house was decorated by pottery king - Jonathan Adler and special event- design guru Colin Cowie hosted the fete that dedicated Barbie's house.Karl Lagerfeld for Barbie

Thats not all!   French designers in Paris will be displaying thier take on Barbie in ultra chic boutique Colette.

Of course Karl Lagerfeld, the Kaiser of Chanel has top billing with a tweed skirtskirt for Mademoiselle Barbie!Rootstein Headquarters

Who brought the blond bombshell to life?   When Mattel planned the 50th anniversary - of course they went to mannequin master Rootstein to bring the 11" curves to life size reality.   The Rootstein headquarters on 19th street in New York are also celebrating the milestone.

Last but not least - publisher Assouline brings us the ultimate coffee table on Barbie.  The oversized collectible chronicles Barbie through the years.   Priced at $500 - it is surely for the Barbie fanatic!.

DIESEL FUELS NEW YORK ECONOMY?

Diesel Facade - 5th AvenueDiesel is hoping that tourists will flock to the new denim emporium.   Joining the ranks of Milan, Hong Kong, & Japan - the store is the fourth Planet concept store.   The store is jam packed with all lines offered by the Italian fashion company spanning three floors and 20.000 square feet.   Extra features like an on-site tailor, messenger service, and wi-fi throughout the store are meant to elevate an ordinary jean shopping experience.   There are also some fun features like laser etching offered to customize jeans and magic mirrors so you can see yourself coming and going.   E-Commerce portals throughout the store also make finding any product ever made by Diesel that much easier.

The company logo - the Mohican head -is etched in layers of hand-cut black steel that rises three stories above 5th avenue.   The first display windows features a recreation of a new york apartment that has a Mohican head that has crashed "through the ceiling" - the store opening in reality was slightly less dramatic.

My sources tell me that Diesel signed an insanely expensive deal with Gucci to rent the space and incurred all renovation expenses - remember this lease was signed long before the economy went south.   Here's hoping that the profit margin on each pair of jeans is HUGE!   Head up to Diesel if you are thinking of buying a new pair of jeans - if you have an urge to rent "last of the Mohican's" after - you'll know why.
